To my darling nephew, we are in an unprecedented time in the history of mankind now. The isolation journal…starting with managing insomnia
Dealing with an additional issue in the face of the pandemic is not easy. The doctor has decided on a 3-month treatment break after I conveyed to her about my chronic insomnia that started since January. Maybe this is the only way to help me get back some sleep, she said. This, to me, cameContinue reading “The isolation journal…starting with managing insomnia”
The roots and the stream
Recently, I miss some of my friends that I met and knew from childhood, teenage-hood and young adulthood so much. The connections remain strong with some of them. So much more than I once thought! A recent conversation with Woonli, my brave friend who took the less travelled path and went to live in IndiaContinue reading “The roots and the stream”
The gift of time
After completing 5 cycles of treatment, a series of CT scans show favourable results early this week. In medical terms, there is an ‘interval sclerosis’ detected in the bone where the lesions was found in the last scan. Which means the bone is healing and patching up, according to how the doctor was describing toContinue reading “The gift of time”
To my nephew with love #2 overcoming fear
To my darling nephew: You know, this world that we are living in, is getting so much harder to navigate. I think the entire world is stressed out. As I am writing this to you, the Ukranian Flight 752 was shot down by the Iranian missiles just about a week ago. The US President hadContinue reading “To my nephew with love #2 overcoming fear”
To my nephew with love #1 Self-compassion
My darling nephew, I saw you growing up so rapidly over the past 18 months. From a newborn who finds comfort only in sucking milk and sleeping, you are now a toddler who loves to play hide and seek, and enjoys mimicking others’ words. You are like a sponge, absorbing the world around you curiously,Continue reading “To my nephew with love #1 Self-compassion”
2019: A year of spiritual transcendence
I would like to end the year by thanking myself (for not giving in to fear) and everyone who has been caring so much for me during this time. 2019 is a year that I will forever remember as a year of spiritual transcendence. A year when I finally realise that this life is justContinue reading “2019: A year of spiritual transcendence”
My healing forest
I have officially named Mc Ritchie Reservoir as my HEALING FOREST. Over the past two months, I have made it a point to take at least 3 to 4 long walks in it every week. It is an activity that I look forward to doing most now! With my condition stabilising and the pain vanishingContinue reading “My healing forest”
Reflections from the final verse of Diamond Sutra
“Thus shall you think of all this fleeting world: A star at dawn, a bubble in a stream; a flash of lightning in a summer cloud, a flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream.” ~ Diamond Sutra Reading the final verse from the Diamond Sutra a decade after I first encountered this profound Buddhist SutraContinue reading “Reflections from the final verse of Diamond Sutra”
